The number of Covid cases on board is steadily increasing and is now sitting at over 20 known cases. Fingers crossed we stay well..
In the late afternoon we were presented with a country food tasting put on by John Houston, Joe and Susie. We tried seal liver, caribou heart and meat, muskox, whale skin and raw arctic char as well as dried. Arctic char and muskox. Can’t say I had any favourites amongst them but if it was the food you grew up with I am sure you would find it quite delicious. We really did enjoy our martini after brushing our teeth to get rid of flavours we were not fond of.
We were invited to have dinner with a couple of the staff and another couple. Joe and Susie, the Inuit guides on board were our hosts for dinner and we had a very informative and fun dinner. After dinner the Frosted Stromatolites band entertained us for a few hours. Disappointed to miss out on the landing but turned out to be a good day.
Proposed landing site fogged in
The shapes of the icebergs are so interesting
The bergs reflect light even in the fog
The textures where they have broken away are all so different
The tops of the icebergs are as smooth as icing
The country food being prepared for our tasting
Eric bravely trying a bit of everything
Not to be outdone!
Our dinner companions
A picture of Joe and Susie,s great grandson that they shared at dinner. It was 25 below and everything soon froze yet he still has a look of sheer delight. His collar is made of Arctic Fox
